The first pic is from the Altamont Free Festival, which took place four months after Woodstock–on December 6, 1969. Held just 60 miles from San Francisco and featuring many of the same bands (Santana, the Jefferson Airplane), Altamont flashed a far darker, more violent side of ‘60s counterculture. The Rolling Stones had hired the Hell’s Angels to provide security and, as the crowd became more intoxicated and menacing, the Angels carried pool sticks and other makeshift weapons to push fans away the stage. Before the Stones’ set ended, Hell’s Angel Alan Passaro had stabbed gun-wielding fan Meredith Hunter. Gotta love the sixties!
David Ryan and Brian Scott over at Seven Sins Choppers have stepped up and kicked down one of their killer tail lights for your bike! The winner will be announced this friday and parts are still coming in! Stop by their site and let them know you love’em.
